Tanker rescued 29 migrants
On the morning of Jan 22, 2025, the Port Authority of Agia Galini was informed by the Unified Search and Rescue Coordination Center of the Greek Coast Guard, that the 'Eva Fukuoka' had rescued 29 migrants 52 nautical miles south.southeast of Gavdos. The castaways were transferred onto a patrol ship and were initially transported to the port of Agia Galini and then to a shelter in Rethymno. A preliminary investigation was being conducted by the Rethymno Port Authority.
