Ferry got stuck in ice
The 'Sakhalin 9' got stuck in ice, in the vicinity of pos. 49 04 36 N, 140 21 41 E at the exit of the port of Vanino in the early morning of Jan 6, 2024. Later the same day, after being stuck for several hours in heavy ice conditions, the Russian flagged ferry 'Alexandr Deev' , which was passing by on its scheduled route from Kholmsk to Vanino, was able to free the 'Sakhalin 9', which sailed from Vanino anchorage at around 6 a.m.
Allision in Kholmsk
On June 23, at 2 p.m. the "Sakhalin 9", while maneuvering to dock in Kholmsk port upon Sakhalin Island, allided with the brand-new Liberian offshore tug "Katun" which was berthed at the quay. After contact, the ferry ran aground on a gravel shoal but quickly refloated by own means and anchored on the ports roads for surveys. No damages were reported. The ferry was serving the Vanino – Kholmsk route.
