Detention in Newcastle, NSW
On Jan 22, 2026, the 'Yasa Eagle' was detained at Newcastle, New South Wales, by port state control inspectors under the Tokyo Memorandum of Understanding. The vessel was subject to an initial inspection during its first call at the port in 2026. The examination uncovered three deficiencies, one of which being regarded as seriously and a ground for a detention. The inspectors noted shortcomings in documentation and safety policy. The ship was released again after a re-inspection on Jan 23 and left the port enroute to Beihai with an ETA as of Feb 12.
Medevac off Addu City
The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has assisted in bringing a sick crew member aboard the "Yasa Eagle" to southernmost Addu City for treatment. The MNDF’s Coast Guard unit received reports of the matter on March 26, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. The rescue coordination center had deployed officers to the vessel which was then about 12 nautical miles north of Addu City. The patient was brought to Addu City at about 11.30 p.m. and was being treated at the Hithadhoo Regional Hospital.
