Disabled tug towed to Istanbul
The "Hercules" suffered a technical failure during the passage of the Istanbul Strait and dropped anchor at Buyukdere anchorage on Jan 23, 2019. Repairs could not be carried out by the crew, and on Feb 6 the Coastal Safety tug "Mehmetcik" took the ship in tow at 07.30 a.m. to Istanbul Anchorage where it dropped anchor at 10.30 a.m. in pos. 40° 58.87' N 028° 56.64' E. The vessel's departure permission has been cancelled until the completion of permanent repairs by the crew, as per class surveyor's recommendations.
