Vulcano-M

The 'Mahatsangy' was in allision with a speedboat in the port of Vohemar on Dec 7, 2023, following a minor control problem during a manoeuvre, causing a malfunction in its propulsion system during pre-departure preparations. This led to an unintended forward movement of the vessel. It broke several of its mooring ropes and damaged an unmanned small fiberglass boat which moored in close vicinity. There were no injuries or environmental impact. Neither the 'Mahatsangy' nor the port infrastructure suffered damage. The vessel remained berthed to thoroughly investigate and address the cause of the propulsion issue. Additionally, a joint assessment of the damages of the speedboat was conducted, followed by a formal report of the incident to the port authorities. After conducting preliminary investigations, completing all necessary safety checks, and receiving clearance from the local authorities, the 'Mahatsangy' departed from Vohemar on Dec 8 and berthed in Diego Suarez the same day.
