Cruise ship rescued a family

Nov 16, 2024 16:48

On Nov 15, the crew of the 'Voyager of the Seas' rescued a family of two adults, two minors, and a dog from distress at sea. At the time of the rescue, the cruise ship was on its second day at sea en route from Cartagena to Las Palmas on Gran Canaria. A few nautical miles off the coast of Africa, it assisted their yacht, which had suffered an engine failure that resulted in a loss of power. Making matters worse, the vessel had also lost its masts, effectively stranding those onboard. A tender boat was launched to help the people. An attempt to fix the problems failed, so the people were brought onto the 'Voyager of the Seas', which then continued its voyage, and the castaways were disembarked in port on Nov 16. The associated formalities were being arranged with the local authorities.
