Volgaborg

The 'Volgaborg', while heading up the St Mary's River toward the Soo locks en route from Sault Ste. Marie to Duluth with an ETA as of Nov 25, lost power and dropped both bow and stern anchor on Nov 24, 2025, at 11 a.m. LT. Soo Traffic closed the river to traffic both directions. The 'Bandura' and 'Shipka', which were sailing right behind, anchored immediately in the Nine Mile (Hay Lake) Anchorage. The downbound 'Federal Bering' was able to tie up on the MacArthur Lock lower wall with the assistance of the tug 'Colorado' (MMSI: 367376340), which thenheaded down to the 'Volgaborg' to stand by if needed. The 'CSL Welland' joined the other two vessels at the anchorage around noon, with the downbound 'Edgar B. Speer' being held at the locks. The 'Volgaborg' regained power after about 2,5 hours and sailed to an anchorage at the Soo Locks ofr an inspection. She was been cleared to proceed upbound without tug assistance by the inspectors of the USCG. The other vessels get underway in the same order as they had anchored.
