Ferry delayed due to rope in propeller

On Dec 6, 2024, at 6.06 p.m. a rope got entangled in one of the two propellers of the “Volcán de Tamadaba”, when it was leaving the port of Arrecife de Lanzarote on the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria route. The incident delayed the journey for a few hours. The work of some divers was necessary to untangle the rope. The ferry finally salied shortly after 1.30 p.m.

Man found deceased after he fell over board

On Oct 31, 2011, around 10 p.m., a man fell overboard the "Volcan de Tamadaba". A search was launched with helicopters, planes and boats for the man of around 40 years. The "Volcán de Tamadaba" was on the way from Santa Cruz de Tenerife to Las Palmas in Gran Canaria and was two miles northeast of La Isleta. The ferry immediately started a rescue operation, but the man was not found. In the night of Nov 3 a body was found floating in the sea, and most likely it was the man who was missing.
