Medevac off Port Elizabeth
On June 4, 2018, at 6 p.m. the NSRI Port Elizabeth dispatched the lifeboat "Spirit of Toft" to rendezvous with the "Vishva Preeti" off Port Elizabeth in Nelson Mandela Bay, sailing from Argentina to Port Elizabeth, to medevac a 28 year old woman crew member suffering a suspected miscarriage. The patient, in a stable condition and accompanied by her husband, was taken onboard the boat in the care of the EMS rescue paramedic and brought into Port and transported to hospital by EMS ambulance.

Having taken delivery of two Panamax Bulk carriers within five days last week the shipping tonnage of the Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. (SCI), which now stands at 5.85 million dwt. has outstripped the 50% mark of the country’s total tonnage. The two carriers that joined the SCI fleet are m.v. VISHVA VIJAY which was delivered on 25th October, 2012 and m.v. VISHVA PREETI on 30th October, 2012.
