Ferry delayed due to technical fault
The 'Visby', sailing between Visby and Oskarshamn, which was supposed to depart from Visby on July 8, 2025, at 07.30 a.m., was delayed due to a technical fault. This was stated by the opererator Destination Gotland. After troubleshooting, the ship finally departed at 08.18 a.m.
Medevac near Visby
On June 25, 2020 a sick person had to be mdevaced by helicopter from the 'Visborg'. The ferry, coming from Nynäshamn, had almost reached Visby port, when the rescue helicopter landed on the ship and picked up the patient for further treatment in hospital.
Three women arrested after Visborg incident
Three women were arrested on March 19 after police action on the 'Visborg' by the prosecutors. On March 18 the police was called to the port of Nynäshamn, where the ferry was berthed, after three women, along with a child,had barricaded themselves in a cabin in the morning. Hours later, emergency services were alerted to the scene as ot was burning inside the cabin. The intervention force had to get into the cab with the help of a chainsaw. The women were arrested and the child was taken care of by social authorities. The police launched a preliminary investigation. The detainees were interrogated on March 19, and a technical examination in the cabin was conducted during the day.
Hostage drama on ferry
On March 18, 2020, a hostage drama unfolded aboard the 'Visborg' at the quay in Nynäshamn. Police were called to the scene when three women, along with a child, barricaded themselves inside a cabin on the ferry in the morning. Hours later, emergency services were alerted to the scene after an alarm that it was burning inside one of the cabins. During the afternoon, the police's intervention force finally got into the cabin. Four ambulances were on scene too. At 4.35 p.m. the police announced that drama was over and that they had entered the cabin. No one was injured. The three women were arrested, and the child has been taken care of by social authorities. The police have launched a preliminary investigation into the case. Throughout the drama, there were no passengers on board the ferry and there was never any danger to the public. The afternoon trip from Visby to Nynäshamn at 4.30 p.m. was canceled, but the 8.45 p.m. sailing took place.
