Crew member who fell over board rescued alive
A crew member who fell overboard from the "Vincenzo Florio" ferry, sailing on the Palermo - Napoli route n the night of June 28, 2020, was recovered alive after a few hours of search. The alarm was raised immediately after the departure, when it was noticed that one of the crew members did not show up. The search immediately started, coordinated by the Harbour Master's Office, in which Coast Guard units and the firefighters took part. A patrol boat of the Coast Guard found the man alive at sea, about six miles from the port of Palermo. The ship continued its voyage to Naples. Investigations are underway to ascertain what happened shortly after departure.
