Four crew members went over board, one missing
Four crew members of theΒ 'VIMC Sunrise', including the Chief Officer, fell over board under unclear circumstances in the afternoon of Oct 17, 2022. Theulk carrier tried to anchor seven nautical miles west of Mailiao port at the western coast of central Taiwan. The ship was en route from Singapore to Xiamen. The reasons behind the decision to anchor wass also unclear. Three seafarers were rescued and hoisted back aboard the ship soon after fall, the fourth went missing. The three rescued suffered broken limbs. The Master decided to sail to Kaohsiung to get medical assistance as soon as possible, and berthed at Kaohsiung on Oct 18 af around 6 a.m.
