Vega-Dream

The 'Vega Dream' collided with the cargo m/v 'Yangze 22' (IMO: 9958212) on the night of Dec 30. 2024,at 10 p.m. on the Changjiang River. The 'Yangze 22' suffered damage to its hull and was moored at Hengsha East Anchorage for damage assessment. About nine metric tonnes of fuel oil spilt due to the collision. The Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration (MSA), together with several support craft deployed by owner company,were conducting the clean-up of the fuel oil spilt. Both ships were in stable condition and no injuries to the crews have been reported. The 'Vega Dream' anchored in pos. 31° 32' N 121° 23' E.

The 'Vega Dream' has set sail for the Philippines after leaving its anchorage off WA's Pilbara coast. A's Heath Department said the bulk carrier was given clearance to depart in the night of Oct 14 by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority. A total of seven crew members from the vessel, which was anchored 22 nautical miles off the state's coast, had tested positive for COVID-19. Some of the ship's crew had direct contact with BHP's day shift employees after it docked in Port Hedland.

The 'Vega Dream' anchored off Port Hedland on Oct 9, 2020, after sailing from Shanghai via Manila.It was taking on cargo in the night of Oct 10 when one crew member started to feel unwell. He was taken to the local hospital where he returned a weak positive test result for COVID 19 from an initial fast-testing. His samples were flown to Perth to verify the results of that earlier test. No one else was showing symptoms.The Health Department confirmed on Oct 11 that two WA maritime workers had boarded the vessel, but were deemed a low risk of infection as they had not come in to contact with the infected crew member.
