Captain medevaced off Gramvousa
The Hellenic Coast Guard was alerted in the evening of Jan 29, 2019, by the "Vectis Progress" because its 49-year-old foreign captain needed immediate hospital care. The patient was taken off by a patrol boat and transported to the port of Kolymvari, from where an ambulance took him to the General Hospital of Chania, where he remained hospitalized. The freigher sailed off the Gramvousa area, coming from Iskenderun and destined for Barcelona, loaded with iron and remaining anchored.
