Tanker boarded by robbers at Conakry anchorage
The 'Karadeniz Powership Ayberk Bey' was boarded by six to seven men, armed with knives and guns, at the Conakry anchorage in position 09 21 33N, 013 47 23W, on June 9, 2020, at 12.15 a.m. Personal belongings such as computers, mobile phones, etc. and money were stolen. The commanding officer, two other officers, the ship's agent and the duty deckhand were beaten up, without suffering serious injuries. The thieves left the ship at 01.40 a.m. No firearms fire was reported during the incident. The ship left the mooring at 4 a.m.
