Record ships make maiden calls in South America
This weekend, the 8,872 teu VALOR, the lead ship of Evergreen’s and Costamare’s quintet of compact wide-beam ships from South Korea’s Sungdong Shipyard, has made her first appearance on the South American East Coast. At the occasion, she became the largest container ship to ever visit the ports of Brazil and she is to set vessel size records in the coming days in Uruguay and Argentina. The ship, which trades on the ‘ESA/ASE’ service of Evergreen, Coscon and Zim (#418) is to perform a round-trip from Santos to Paranagua, Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Rio Grande and Itapoa, before returning to Santos and then back to the Far East.
