North-Western Shipping Company will seek recovery of losses from Finnish dockers’ rejection to unload M/V Malachite

On December 10, 2015, representatives of the Finnish Seamen's Union rejected to unload M/V Malachite (North-Western Shipping Company) at the port of Uusikaupunki, says NWSC. On the pretext of absence of ‘proper’ labor contract with ITF onboard the ship, Finnish Seamen's Union (FSU), which is affiliated to the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF), threatened with a dockers’ strike. FESCO expands its fleet with M/V Malachite

FESCO Transportation Group has commissioned into service the M/V Malachite, the shipping company said in a press release. The ship will operate on short sea lines with the same class vessels M/V FESCO Pevek and M/V FESCO Posiet on the Magadan-Korsakov-Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky service. The M/V Malachite will be engaged in transportation of general, bulk and containerized cargo. The vessel has ice class to operate in freezing ports. The onboard electro-hydraulic cranes of lifting capacity of 50 tonnes each will enable the vessel to offload cargo unto the beach.
