Svs-Vega

A Ukrainian sailor died aboard the 'SVS Vega' on the evening of Jan 29, 2026, after suffering a workplace accident, while the ship was docked at the Levante Wharf in the Port of Valencia. He may have died after being trapped between two containers and hitting his head during the unloading process with a crane on deck. Both the Port Police and medical services arrived at the scene minutes after the accident, but the sailor had already died by the time they arrived. The Civil Guard subsequently took charge of the investigation to determine the cause of the accident.

The "SVS Vega" was detained in Kocaeli on Sep 8, 2025, with five deficiencies, three of which being regarded as seriously and grounds for a detention: 1) Pollution Prevention - Ballast Water Management System Malfunctioning 2) Alarms - Steering gear alarm Inoperative 3) Radio communications - SART/AIS-SART Not as required The vessel was released again on Sep 10 and berthed in Derince on Sep 10.
