Ferry suffered mecanical faliure off Volos
On the evening of Sep 26, 2025, the Central Port Authority of Volos was informed that the 'Suerstar' had suffered a mechanical failure, enroute from the port of Skiathos to Volos with 303 passengers, 65 private vehicles, 23 trucks, nine motorcycles and 56 crew members on board. At a reduced speed, the ferry proceeded to the port of Volos, where it docked safely. Following an inspection by officers of the Local Inspection Unit of the Central Port Authority of Volos, the ship was banned from sailing until the damage was repaired and a class maintenance certificate was presented by the monitoring classification society.
Ferry suffered propulsion trouble
On June 25 at noon, the Port Authority of Alonissos was informed that during the arrival of the 'Super Star' at the port of Alonissos, fluctuations in speed and incomplete combustion in the port side main engine were detected. The ferry was operating a scheduled route from the port of Volos to Skiathos-Skopelos-Alonissos and return with 175 passengers on board. The Port Station of Alonissos banned the ship from sailing until the presentation of a certificate of seaworthiness from the monitoring classification society. 130 passengers,eight cars, four trucks and two passenger cars destined for Skopelos, Skiathos and Volos, were forwarded to their destinations on other scheduled ships.
Ferry suffered failure in cooling system
On the morning of June 23, the Port Authority of Volos was informed by the Captain of the'Superstar' about a failure in the cooling system of the generators, which occurred during the preparation for the execution of the route to Skiathos-Skopelos-Alonissos, with 438 passengers, 19 trucks, 91 cars, 7 motorcycles and two buses on board. The Central Port Authority of Volos prohibited the departure of the ferry until the repair of the damage and the presentation of a certificate of class maintenance from the monitoring classification society. Passengers and vehicles, except trucks and buses, were transported to their destination by the ferry 'Iolkos'.
Ferry suffered engine failure
On June 3 at noon, the Port Authority of Alonissos was informed that the 'Superstar' suffered a failure of the port side main engine during the mooring operations at the port of Alonissos. The ferry was operating a scheduled route from the port of Volos to Skiathos-Skopelos-Alonissos and return, and there were 98 passengers, nine vehicles and seven trucks on board. The Alonissos Port Station initially prohibited the departure of the ship. Upon the presentation of a seaworthiness certificate from the classification society that monitors it, it was granted permission to carry out a single voyage, without cargo and passengers, to the port of Volos. The 71 passengers waiting at the port of Alonissos were transported to their destinations by the ferries 'Speedrunner Jett II' and 'Iolkos'.
