Superspeed-1

During the weekend of Aug 23/24, 2025, the 'Superspeed 1' needed assistance when both arriving and departing in Hirtshals enroutefrom Kristiansand. The ferry was experiencing problems with the thrusters, which was making it difficult to maneuver and especially to turn around in the harbour. To ensure that the ferry could complete its maneuvers safely, the Hirtshals Rescue Station deployed the lifeboat 'Margrethe Gaardbo' on both days, which helped the 'Superspeed 1' when it had to turn, so that both arrival and departure could be completed without problems.

The 'Superspeed 1' encountered technical problems in the port of Hirtshals on Dec 31, 2019, and was delayed for several hours due to the requiered repairs. The problems involved a pipe which needed to be fixed by external workers. At 5 p.m. the ship was ready to sail instead of 12.15 p.m. as scheduled. She finally arrived in Kristiansand at 7 p.m.

On July 12, 2017, the "SuperSpeed 1" was delayed into Kristiansand this afternoon due to a death on board, a Norwegian woman in the 50's. The crew attempted to resuscitate her on board. The ferry which would have sailed at 12:15 p.m. from Hirtshals and arrive in Kristiansand at 3:30 p.m., arrived at 4:20 p.m. instead. The case was not suspicious.

The roro ferry "Melusine" suffered problems in the night of Dec 11, 2016, while calling at Hirtshals. Strong winds caused a restricted maneuverability in the harbour. The vessel was pushed against the "Superspeed 1" at 8.40 p.m. The cargo ship wedged up against the ferry before it was brought under control with the the help of the Hirtshals-based tug "Tybring" and berthed at 9.20 p.m. An inspection found only minor damage to the vessels. The ferry had 240 cars and 611 passengers on board. No one was injured.
