Kohju crew saved yachtie in gale
Off the Australian Coast the crew of the "Kohju" saved a the Canadian skipper of the 9,5 -m-yacht "Kekuli" about 260 kilometres SW of Cape Leeuwin, in a severe gale on Aug 2, 2011. The engine of the yacht had broken off and tried to smash the hull and the man activated the EPIRB on Aug 1. The Australian authorities relayed the call, and the "Kohju" proceeded towards the boat. A raft was dropped off a plane, and within 6 hours the 62-year old man was pulled aboard the "Kohju" who will stay on board until the vessel has reached its destination Las Palmas.
