Port ferry stopped by emergency anchoring
On Feb 5, 2020, around 5 p.m. the 'Strande' during its service between Kiel and Laboe suffered an engine failure off the port of Möltenort on the Kiel Fjord enroute from Laboe to Möltenort. The ship was stopped by an emergency anchoring. It was towed back 45 minutes later by the tug 'Stein' to the company's own repair pontoon at the railway station quay in Kiel at 6.40 p.m. for repairs. As no replacement ferry was available on short terms, the sailings at 5.40 p.m. from Laboe, 5.50 p.m. from Kiel- Friedrichsort and at 6 p.m. from Möltenort to Kiel central station were cancelled. As repair attempts in the night failed, on Feb 6 the passenger ferry 'Kitzeberg' was mobilized as a replacement to serve the schedule starting on 5.55 a.m. in Möltenort. The 'Strande' remained stationary at the repair pontoon of the SFK company as of Feb 7.
