Ferry collided with whale
The'Bañaderos Express' was allegedly in collison with a whale on its way from Santa Cruz de Tenerife to Agaete, Gran Canaria, on April 20, 2022. According to passengers, the collision with the cetacean occurred on the starboard side and blood and even the body split in two could be seen in the water. The incident occurred when there were barely 20 minutes left to reach the destination, the port of Las Nieves. At least four passengers and a waiter witnessed the incident. The ship continued to move at a slower speed and the public address system indicated that for “technical reasons” she was sailing more slowly. Once in port, several operators have checked the aft starboard engine, where the impact occurred.
