Stena Danica to return

Jun 08, 2020 10:18

Stena Line has decided to put the 'Stena Danica' in traffic again between Gothenburg and Frederikshavn. Due to the corona pandemic, she has been idling at a quay in Gothenburg since March 23. The traffic between Gothenburg and Frederikshavn has instead been run with the more freight-focused vessels 'Stena Jutlandica' and 'Stena Vinga'. But on June 4 the Stena Line announced that they will reinstate the 'Stena Danica' from July 1. The ferry will thus replace zjr 'Stena Vinga', which will undergo maintenance work at a yard. The reason for the decision was that Stena Line noticed an increasing interest in making day trips with the vessels on the route and an improved booking situation for our day trips to Denmark. In order to ensure safety on board, the shipping company has invested in a number of measures. The supply on board will be somewhat limited, as will be the opening hours in restaurants, bars and shops. The ship will be cleaned and disinfected on surfaces that come into contact with many people, such as railings, buttons and handles. In addition, the vessel is operating at a greatly reduced capacity between 300 and 700 passengers depending on the departure. The plan was to operate between one and two departures per day during the summer months of July and August.
