Stella-Kosan

On Aug 7, 2016, at 9.25 p.m. the "Stella Kosan" was threatened to allided with the Spijkenisser Bridge at Rotterdam. The two bridge components were not up and motorists could no longer cross the bridge because the gates were closed, when the "Stella Kosan" was approaching from the New Waterway the "Stella Kosan". The captain of the tanker managed to stop the ship in time and turn the engine full astern, and less than 100 meters from the closed bridge the tanker stopped by plowing into a sandbar next to the bridge. At 10.40 p.m. the fault was rectified so that the unloaded LPG tanker could continue its journey towards the destination Moerdijk with tug assistance. Armed guards on board the "Stella" foiled a pirat eattack on July 17, 2011, in the morning while the ship was sailing in the southern part of the Red Sea. By firing shots they forced nine pirate skiffs to reverse when they were 50 to 60 meters from the ship which continued its way to Europe.
