Tanker grounded on rocks
Due to a navigational error the "Steinar Haltbakk" sailed straight into the east side of the island of Svinøy, north of Rørvik, on May 26, 2019, at 11.30 p.m. in pos. 64 55 00 N, 10 23 18 E. The ship had sailed from Sistranda the same day at 5.15 a.m. The lifeboat "Erik Bye", the tug "Waterman" and the Coast Guard vessel "Nornen" attended. The tanker did not suffer leaks, was later refloated and made its way through the Nærøy Sound with seven knots.
