Master hoisted off San Francisco

Jun 26, 2015 19:45

A Coast Guard aircrew from Air Station San Francisco airlifted the master of the "Midland Sky", after he appeared to suffer symptoms of a stroke approximately 260 miles northwest of Point Arena in the morning of June 23, 2015. The ship contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector San Francisco to request a medevac of the master who appeared to have symptoms of a stroke. A duty Flight Surgeon concurred the master having symptoms of a stroke and should be medically evacuated, but since the master started experiencing symptoms approximately six hours earlier, that the medevac was not urgent. In the evening, the "Midland Sky" was about 45 miles west of San Francisco. The Air Station San Francisco aircrew was launched, and the master was hoisted safely from the vessel. He was transferred to Kaiser Air at Oakland International Airport in stable condition. Report with video: http://www.uscgnews.com/go/doc/4007/2551874/
