Star-Harmony

The "Star Harmony" was successfully refloated with its cargo of 47.500 tons corn in the aftternoon of Dec 23 and proceeded in southern direction to Ahırkapı by the tugs "Kurtarma 3", "Kurtarma 8", "Kiyem 6", "Fener 1" and "Erv Nene Hatun" which had deployed by the Istanbul Vessel Traffic Services. She completed the transit of the Bosphrus without further trouble and was moored off Istanbul for inspections with the "Kurtarma 3" and the "Kiyi Emniyeti 6" still on site. Salvage work at the "Star Harmony" off Yeniköy has been stopped on Dec 22. Rescue teams had resumed the work in the morning but stopped halfway as they had not succeeded to get the ship off between 8 a.m. and noon. Authorities announced the opening of the ship traffic in the Bosphorus as of 12:00 p.m. The "Kurtarma 3" and "Nele Hatun" remained at the grounding site. The salvage of the fully loaded "Star Harmony" off Yeniköy was resumed on Dec 22 at 8 a.m. The Bosphorus was closed for ship transit in both directions.
