Landing craft ran aground
The 'Victoria 9', en route to Salelologa, Savai'i, ran aground off the port on a reef in pos. 13 44 60 S, 172 12 51 W in the morning of Aug 21, 2023, with passengers and cargo on board, and got stuck just metres away from the wharf. The passengers were safely moved to shore, leaving just the cars and cargo on the vessel. Small boats were used to transport the stranded passengers ashore.
