Engine failure due to filter trouble
The "Spanaco Loyalty", while en route from Runcorn to Bermeo with a crew of eight on board, suffered an engine failure while transiting the Land's end traffic separation scheme, approximately 8.5 nautical miles northeast of Scilly in position 49 59 46 N, 006 03 57 W, on Oct 28, 2018, at 11.50 p.m. After the initial investigation, a problem was identified with the fuel oil filter, as it was blocked with dirt. The Duty Counter Pollution and Salvage Officers (DCPSO) were informed about the incident. After the issue was rectified, the nloaded vessel resumed its voyage towards Spain wih an ETA as of Oct 30, 7. p.m.
