While navigating the Ukrainian maritime corridor, the 'SMS Carrera' was struck by two Russian Geran-2 (Shahed-type) kamikaze drones in the early hours of April 22, 2026. The attack occurred in the western Black Sea, off the coast of Romania, while en route to ports in the Odesa Oblast. The strikes caused a fire to break out on board. No casualties or injuries have been reported among the crew members. The crew successfully extinguished the fire. The ship remained under control.
