Container ship refloated

After the "Hanjin Semarang" got stuck at the entrance of Chittagong Port on Dec 23, the casualty was refloated and taken to the jetty 9 in port on Dec 23 at 10.30 p.m. with the high tide. A tug helped to pull off the vessel which had ran aground in the Karnaphuli river mouth between Buoy no. 1 and 3 on her way to jetty no. 9 from the outer anchorage as she pulled along the side of the channel to avoid a barge of the port by 1 p.m. with 528 containers on board.

Container ship stuck off Chittagong

The "Hanjin Semarang" got stuck on a shoal at the entrance to Chittagong Sea Port at the mouth of the Karnaphuli river on Dec 23, 2011, around 1:30 p.m. The ship was expected to refloat during high tide at midnight. The ship was not hampering shipping movements in the port. It was stuck between No 1 Buoy and No 2 Buoy of the port channel, coming to Chittagong from Port Klang with more than 800 import containers.
