Ferry rerouted to Brest for medevac

Nov 09, 2018 11:22

The "Baie de Seine", sailing between Portsmouth and Bilbao, it had to be rerouted on Brest on Nov 8, 2018, at 2 a.m. for the evacuation of a female passenger and her husband. The weather conditions did not allow an optimal operation at sea. The ship thus headed to the port of Brest and moored at an anchorage area in port because reaching the dock was difficult because of the tide. During the day, weather conditions in the Bay of Biscay prompted the ferry company to cancel the crossing to Bilbao. Thus, the "Baie de Seine" returned to the dock at 1 p.m. to land its 280 passengers and vehicles. The ship left for Portsmouth at 3 p.m. with about 15 passengers wishing to re-embark. The others took the road to Spain.
