Ferry suffered engine breakdown
The "Sibilla", serving the route Milazzo-Messina-Carloforte, suffered engine damage on May 25, 2019, at 7.20 p.m. off the coast of Vulcano. The ship had sailed from Milazzo at 5.30 p.m. bound for the Aeolian Islands. It suffered an engine breakdown near Capo Milazzo. The ship had to be towed back to the port by a tug. The favourable sea conditions have facilitated the rescue operation. The 50 passengers were transferred onto the Ferry "Lipoi" after four hours and sailed after 8 p.m., arriving at the Aeolian islands late. The "Sibilla" left the port again on May 27 at 5.45 p.m. resuming its scheduled route to Lipari, where she arrived back at 8 p.m. the same day.
