Patrol vessel escorted Russian convoy

Apr 12, 2026 17:05

On April 11, 2026, the 'Bad Bramstedt' was among the vessels to escort the Russian submarine "Krasnodar", which had emerged from the Mediterranean and was initially located in the English Channel and the North Sea, where it was spotted by French and British naval units, before surfacing in the Skagerrak and setting course for the Great Belt on April 11. The submarine was accompanied by the Russian frigate 'Admiral Grigorovich' and the Russian naval tug 'Altay', while traversing the English Channel and the North Sea. In the Skagerrak, the Russian naval tug "SB-123" and the frigate "Soobrazitelny" took over escort duties to defend against potential attacks by Ukrainian drones. On April 11, the frigate "Soobrazitelny" made for impressive images: It emitted enormous plumes of smoke at times, the cause of which remained unclear. Despite the smoke, the flotilla maintained a very slow speed of seven knots. During the passage through the Great Belt, Denmark deployed the frigate "Esbern Snarre," as well as patrol boats from the Danish Naval Home Guard and the oil spill response vessel "Gunnar Seidenfaden." On the late evening, the flotilla reached the Fehmarn Belt. There, the 'Bad Bramstedt' joined the surveillance effort. Later, the patrol vessel 'Neustadt' and the Danish patrol boat 'Freja' took over this task. Whether a drone, that crashed in a forest near the Eckernförde naval base on the evening, was related to Russian naval activities in the Baltic Sea, was still unclear. The State Criminal Police Office has launched an investigation. Bad Bramstedt saved two from sinking f/v in the Weser

Mar 08, 2013 13:11

The "Bad Bramstedt" went to assist the sinking former f/v "Gisela" on Mar 7, 2013, in the outer Weser. The German ship had reported water ingress at 3.15 p.m. The MRCC Bremen dispatched the lifeboat "Vormann Steffens“ of the DGzRS-Station Hooksiel. First on scene was the "Bad Bramstedt" and went on standby at 3.50 p.m. A helicopter hovered above the "Gisela" until help was at hand. The crew of two had no raft on board. Timewise the situation seemed to be under control, as the water ingress did not increase. The "Vormann Steffen“ started to tow the "Gisela" towards Bremerhaven and started dewatering attempts. The lifeboat "Hermann Rudolf Meyer“ was preparing to take the tow later, but suddenly the water ingress incresed, so that the rope had to be slipped at 6.45 p.m. Before the ship sank, it was pulled outside the fairway near the Roter Sand l/h at the Tegeler Rinne where it foundered between the buoys T3 and T5. The "Bad Bramstedt" took off the crew of two and transported them to Cuxhaven. The police launch "WSP 5" from Wilhelmshaven attended too.
