Grounding near Seskar Island
The 'Sfera', with 22 crew members on board and carrying a cargo of 72000 tons of fertilizer, ran aground near Seskar Island in the eastern Gulf of Finland on Feb 7, 2026, at 6.42 a.m. It got stuck in pos. 60° 10' N 028° 18' E. The vessel was en route from Vistino to Skagen at the time of the incident. No one was injured. The Leningrad-Finnish Transport Prosecutor's Office was investigating the circumstances of the incident. The crew was attempting to refloat the ship unassisted,, but it remained stuck as of Feb 24, still with no assistance tugs nearby. No hull damage, breaches, water ingress, or oil/fuel pollution were reported at this time.
