Remaining Russian crew of damaged tanker repatriated from Ras Isa

May 27, 2025 20:35

More than one month after three crew members from the 'Seven Pearls' had been injured during the strikes on Houthi positions in the port of Ras Isa on April 17/18, 2025, the remainder of the Russian crew of the tanker has been evacuated. The ship was caught at anchor near the port when the U.S. started strikes on the port complex. The three crew members had been taken a hospital in Sanaa. One needed a complex eye surgery. After the U.S. air strikes said the Houthis had not permitted vessels to leave the port. The shipping company was making arrangements in the days after the air strikes to evacuate the three injured. At that time, the other 19 crewmembers were staying aboard the ship and reported they had sufficient supplies. On May 25, they flew from Sanaa to Amman and then returned to Russia. The product tanker remains in Ras Isa. It had regularly traded between the UAE, Djibouti, and Houthi areas of Yemen beforethe strike. It had suffered minor damage during the U.S. bombing.
