Hapag-Lloyd boxship stranded in Genoa with technical issues
15-year-old containership Seaspan Hamburg, operated by Hapag-Lloyd and owned by Season, has been left stranded in the port of Genoa Voltri after suffering a mechanical failure of the main engine. The German carrier informed shippers about the delay saying that “due to technical issues the MV Seaspan Hamburg has been stopped in Genoa Port. We expect her to continue her voyage on Friday February 19 earliest. We regret the inconvenience that these circumstances may cause.” The vessel was towed to a safer quay at the Voltri Terminal Europa container terminal and the local coast guard authorities inform Splash that the ship will not be allowed to leave the port until investigations are complete and classification society DNV confirm the class certificate. http://splash247.com/hapag-lloyd-boxship-stranded-in-genoa-with-technical-issues/
