Tanker allided with bridge pier
In the morning of Mar 7, 2014, the "Sea Pride" struck a pier on the Memorial Bridge between Portsmouth and Kittery, Main while sailing outbound on the Piscataqua River. It struck pier 3 of the lift bridge on the Maine side of the channel. Peliminary inspections found no apparent structural damage to the bridge. The damage was relegated to the fender system designed to protect each bridge pier. The incident did not affect lift operations at the bridge, which remained open to vehicle traffic.
