The Sheerness all weather lifeboat (ALB) launched on Mar 21, 2013, at 1.34 p.m. to the "Sea Charente" being enroute from Northfleet to Amsterdam, which had reported to the Thames Coastguard they had a crewman onboard with chemical burns to his face. The lifeboat arrived at the vessel which was east bound between ‘sea reach’ 7 & 4 in the Thames estuary at 1.52 p.m., and the casualty was taken onboard. The volunteer lifeboat crew treated the Philippino seaman’s burns enroute to Southend pier, where he was landed to the Southend lifeboat crew who were standing by to receive him, before being transferred to hospital. The ALB returned to station and was ready for service at 2.35 p.m.
