Greenpeace action against tanker which suppports Russian oil exports
Greenpease activists have painted the message "Oil fuels war - People want peace' on the hull of the 'Zircone' off Gotland on April 11, 2024. The ship has sold fuel to the Russian shadow fleet. That the 'Zircone' can only be located here outside Gotland and support Russian oil exports is scandalous and something that our politicians and authorities must stop, said Rolf Lindahl, the organization's spokesperson for energy issues. The police was treating the matter as vandalism. Their ability to investigate crimes depends on whether the action was carried out in Swedish or international waters. The vessel is at anchor east of Gotland in pos. 57° 37.61'N 019° 24.98' W. The master requested no evacuation, all 17 crew members remained on board and were fighting the fire by own means. In the afternoon the two patrol boats "Klints - KA 09" (MMSI: 275115000), "Skrunda" (MMSI: 275404000) and the Latvian tug "Stella" (IMO: 9389655) had reached the vessel which was loaded with 7,000 tons of diesel oil and still adrift.
