Tanker suffered engine breakdown

The "Mencey" suffered an engine breakdown off the coast of La Tejita, in the Tenerife municipality of Granadilla, in the morning of Aug 31, 2018. The ship was transporting kerosene for Tenerife South Airport. The ship was taken in tow by two tugs to the monobuoy where the cargo was unloaded without any incident or spillage. Three vessels of Salvamanto Maritimo were deployed as escort to guarantee the safety of this maneuver, the "Punta Salinas", "Guardamar Talía" and "Salvamar Alpheratz". The tanker which had sailed from Santa Cruz de Tenerife on Aug 29 at 4 a.m. remained moored in pos. 28° 4.33' N 016° 29.27' W by Sep 1.
