Saranda-Express

In the afternoon of July 14, 2019, the Corfu Port Authority was informed by the captain of the "Saranda Express" which was underway from the port of Saints Albania to Corfu pwith 27 passengers and two vehicles, that it had suffered a mechanical damage to the starboard side main engine and requested towing assistnace. Immediately two patrol boats and a lifeboat as well as the "Dias" proceeded to the casualty. Then the master informed that the crew had repaired the damage and the vessel headed to the port of Corfu. An inspection was immediately carried out by a PSC inspector and a member of the Local Ship Surveillance Agency and by the relevant Port Authority. The ship was detained until the damage was repaired and a class certificate was presented by the classification society. It resumed service on July 16.
