Engine failure off Gocuk Burnu

On Feb 14, 2026, the 'Santa Cruz' suffered an engine failure off Gocuk Burnu, while transiting the Çanakkale Strait, en route from the Russian port Novorossiysk to Port Sudan, in loaden condition. Under coordination by the Çanakkale Ship Traffic Services Center, the ship was taken in tow by the tugs 'Kurtarma 21' (IMO: 1066946) and 'Kurtarma 14' (IMO: 9913585)and pulled to the Şevketiye anchorage, where it was safely moored in pos. 40° 26' N 026° 50' E, where it remained stationary as of Feb 19.
