Human error caused engine failure
What was thought to have been an engine damage turned out to have been human error - the "Aurland" had run out of fuel by human error. There was no fuel in the day tank. The engine has not taken damage in the incident, and the ferry was back in normal operation just before 11 a.m. on June 2 after having taken on board bunker fuel. The ferry had lost power between Atløy and Askvoll at 8:40 a.m., carrying 43 passengers and 16 cars. The "Aurland" was pulled to Askvoll by the "Eir" at 9.15 a.m. Some of the passengers continued with the express boat to Bergen. However, the situation could have been more dramatic if it had been bad weather in the area.
