Aurelia

The 'Aurelia', en route from Russia’s Novorossiysk port to Samsun with 16 crew members on board, seven of whom were Turkish nationals., was targeted by a Ukrainian drone at the starboard side, approximately 80-90 nautical miles off the coast of Samsun, on the night of Jan 17, 2025. As a result of the attack, several reefer containers loaded on the starboard side were damaged, and a fire broke out, which could later be extinguished by the crew. No casualties were reported. The ship berthed in the port on Jan 18 at 2.30 p.m. and reamined stationary as of Jan 20. The damaged containers were unloaded one by one with the help of cranes. The authorities have launched an investigation into the ship and the damaged containers. On Dec 18, the 'Aurelua' was detained again in Novorossiysk with one deficiency: 1) Labour conditions - Non payment of Wages Non payment of Wages The vessel was released again on Dec 23 and left the port enroute to the Bosphorus.
