Medevac off Montevideo
The Colombian Navy conducted a medical evacuation of an Indian crew member, who was showing symptoms of a stroke, from the 'San Julián' on the RÃo de la Plata on Nov 18, 2025. After receiving a distress call from the tanker, which was moored on the anchorage and service area of Montevideo in pos. 35° 02' N 056° 04' W, an aircraft, a helicopter, and the Navy patrol boat 'ROU 14-RÃo Arapey' headed to the vessel to provide immediate assistance. While Navy teams were en route to the ship, the vessel's crew administered oxygen to the patient, successfully stabilizing him and improving his oxygen saturation levels. The situation was monitored via radio by the Fleet Command's medical team. 1,5 hours later, the patient arrived at the Police Hospital's helipad and was then transferred to a medical center.
