FRS has to present salvage plan until September 1

Aug 31, 2021 10:38

The FRS shipping company has been given time until Sep 1 to present the salvage plan for 'San Gwann'. Between Aug 30 and 31, the works were focused on extracting the 15 tons fuel from the tanks. The ferry stuck on stones and needs good weather conditions and sufficient means to be pulled out. The general director of FRS, Ronny Moriana, has assured that it was the first accident of this type suffered by one of its ships in its more than 150 years of history and confirmed that they will resume operations as soon as possible. The shipping company itself has also started an internal investigation. The captain has been with the company for 10 years. President Francina Armengol, who has come to Ibiza to analyze the accident and meet with representatives of the shipping company and the Balearic Port Authority, has applauded the coordination of all the institutions involved. The protocols were being followed and the injured and their families were being monitored, mainly the 10-year-old boy who is admitted to the pediatric ICU of Son Espases.
