Freighter with engine trouble escorted to the Douarnenez Bay
On Nov 25, 2025, the 'Wilson Goole', enroute from IJmuiden to Pasajes with a cargo of steel on board, suffered engine trouble near the Chaussée de Sein. The Atlantic Maritime Prefecture mobilized the emergency tug 'VB Abeille Bretagne' (IMO: 9308687) to escort the ship. The tug had been pre-positioned since Nov 21 off Ouessant island due to a weather alert. The CROSS Corsen alerted the captain shortly after 9 a.m. The "Wilson Goole", which was off the Sein reef, diverted to Brest for repairs, proceeding at a reduced speed, attempting repairs. At 7:15 p.m., the "Wilson Goole" was moored in the Douarnenez Bay. The tug was then able to return to its base at Quai Malbert in Brest. The 'Wilson Goole' fixed the damage, and the ship resumed its voyage on Nov 26 at 8 p.m. with an ETA at Pasajes as of Nov 28.
