Salahuddin

On the morning of Nov 23, 2025, the Ierapetra Port Authority was informed by the JRCC of the Greek Coast Guard about a migrant boat 55 nautical miles south of Ierapetra. The 35 people on board were picked up by the nearby 'Salahuddin', en route from Tanjung Pelepas to Port Said. Four of the rescued, all Bangladeshi nationals, who required immediate hospital treatment, were airlifted by an Air Force helicopter to the Heraklion airport and subsequently transferred to the Venizelio Hospital. The remaining 31 boat people were transferred to a patrol boat and safely transported to the port of Ierapetra. Three of them were transported by ambulance to the Ierapetra Health Center for medical care, while the remaining 28 were transported by a bus of the municipality to a temporary shelter area. A preliminary investigation was launched by the Ierapetra Port Authority.

On Jan 13, 2018, at 08.17 a.m. the "Salahuddin", en route from Shanghai to Rotterdam with a crew of 26 on board, experienced a main engine electrical fault and was drifting easterly at three knots,in position lat 50 06 51N, long 001 55 51W, about 30 miles SE of Portland. The vessel was carrying general cargo 117908.5 kilograms of dangerous cargo classes 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 3, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 5.1, 5.2, .1, 8, 9 and as bunkers carrying 955.8 metric tonnes of high sulphur heavy fuel oil, 370.6 metric tonnes of low sulphur heavy fuel and 316.5 metric tonnes of diesel oil. The vessel successfully completed repair works within 45 minutes and resumed the voyage to Rotterdam where she berthed at the ECT Delta Container Terminal in the Amazone Port on Jan 14 at 3 a.m.
